Recording consent

How these terms fit

These terms apply to recording conversations that Crewloop processes and add to our Terms of Service. Where the two conflict, these terms control for recording conversations that Crewloop processes, except that the Disputes section of the Terms of Service always governs any dispute about recording conversations that Crewloop processes; these terms do not restate, change or replace it.

One rule, everywhere

BEFORE YOU RECORD ANY CONVERSATION THAT CREWLOOP WILL PROCESS, YOU MUST HAVE THE CONSENT OF EVERY PERSON IN IT, WHEREVER THEY ARE.

This is the strictest standard in the United States (sometimes called all-party or two-party consent), and we ask every customer to follow it everywhere, whatever the law where you or they are would allow.

Your responsibility

  • Crewloop does not decide when to record. Your phone system, meeting tools and recorders record, and your people choose when. You are responsible for getting and keeping each consent, and for telling your own staff in writing which of their conversations are recorded.
  • You must not connect, upload or record a conversation that you do not have that consent for.
  • This page is not legal advice. Ask your own lawyer how recording laws apply to your business.

Recording with the Crewloop app

Before the Crewloop app records a conversation in person, the person recording must confirm that everyone there knows it is being recorded. Crewloop keeps that confirmation with the conversation as its record of consent. It is a reminder and a record, not a substitute for your consent duty above.

The phone turns the recording into text itself, and the audio goes to your own Google Drive or OneDrive. Crewloop's servers do not store the audio.

If someone does not consent

Do not record them. If a conversation was recorded without everyone’s consent, delete it from your tools and ask us to remove it from Crewloop.
